"Anything for Speed: Automobile Racing in Vermont"
In April 2018, the VHS will debut a new exhibition, "Anything for Speed: Automobile Racing in Vermont," at the Vermont History Center in Barre, VT. From dirt tracks plowed through farmers' fields to NASCAR affiliated asphalt tracks, from the announcers to the racers to the spectators, we will explore the excitement and passion of a century of automobile racing in Vermont.
The exhibit will highlight the colorful personalities and tight knit communities who supported the sport for decades, and the tracks, drag strips, and asphalt patches where it all happened. We will focus on the unique personalities of the sport, the changing technology, and historic tracks such as Thunder Road International Speedbowl (Barre, VT), Catamount Speedway (Milton, VT), Northeastern Speedway (Waterford, VT), and Bear Ridge (Bradford, VT).
